Last Sunday I flew to Orlando to meet my dearest family. I was supposed to arrive first and meet them at baggage claim, but my plane ended up being delayed by three hours. I panicked, tried to get on another flight and then gave up and decided to wait it out. But heaven forbid I wait alone, so I had Steak meet me at the airport to grab lunch outside security. I wasn't worried because I still had 2 hours before my plane was supposed to arrive. Of course, as luck would have it, as soon as our waiter took our order I got a notification from the airline that my plane was arriving at the gate and it was about to board. Oh poor Steak, he came all the way to the airport just to pay for carry out. I made a bee line for security and made it to my gate prior to it boarding.
A short two hours later and I was in sunny Florida (not that DC isn't sunny and HOT enough!). My family ended up beating me by an hour, which was great because I missed the whole rental car fiasco.
Look how beautiful the airport is. Beats DCA for sure!
And look who was waiting for me! Rental car packed and ready to go.
We left the airport, checked into our hotel and loaded the car to drive to Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure. Luckily for us it started raining immediately. I know, I know, how can that be lucky? Well, Harry Potter World has been PACKED with people, because it's been so popular and lucky for us the rain drove the crowds away. We put out ponchos and game faces on and headed straight to the back of the park where Hogwarts is located.
FYI: Because it was raining I did not bring out my D-SLR, so all of my pictures from our first night were on my Nikon Cool Pix. But without further ado here are a few pictures from our first night in Hogsmeade and Hogwarts.
Oh yea, that last pictures isn't from Harry Potter World. My sister became super brave at the end of the night and rode the Hulk!! Yikes! I had anxiety for her. (We're not a thrill ride kind of family...)
Tomorrow I will have lots more photos from Universal and they will be even better because the sun came out on Monday and so did my D-SLR!
