I'm fairly addicted to on-line shopping, especially since I don't get to real stores anymore. And, unfortunately, now that I'm heavy into reading blogs, I have even more excuses to order items on-line. Recently, All Natural Annie posted a review of New York Natural's Kale Chips on her blog. The second I read that review I knew I had to try the chips. I weighed my options (going way out on WMATA's red line to the only store in DC that sells them and probably pay more than $5 in metro fees or click a few buttons and pay $5 for shipping and it will come to. my. door.) and obviously thought ordering on-line was the better choice.
I felt so strongly about Annie's recommendation that I ordered all three flavors that they offered: Vegan Cheese, Bombay Ranch and Spicy Miso. Steak and I both liked Bombay Ranch the most, but I have to say that none of them disappointed. They're so flavorful, crunchy and are a great replacement for my beloved potato chips. Annie was right, even junk food lovers can appreciate them.
The other week Gilt Groupe had a sale of new Target items and I went crazy over the John Derian collection. And I figured while I was already paying for shipping I would also get some Vitrocolor bottles to keep farmers market flowers in.
And my mother has also contributed to the brightness of our apartment by buying us a picture from Eastern Market that I've been lusting after.
Besides new material items, I have also been blessed to meet some amazing people. Firstly, I haven't even mentioned how much fun I had on Saturday night with the power couple behind Two If By DC and Manifold Destiny. They are so sweet and so much fun and we enjoyed great conversation while eating delicious pizza from Spike's fabulous new restaurant, We, The Pizza. And while we were enjoying our meal we heard my first and last name being mentioned (loud and clear, I might add) at the table next to us. Turns out a girl I went to college with and thought I was friendly with really doesn't like me and was gossiping about me with her friends. We could hear every word. We were all staring at her trying to get her attention but she never looked at us. Finally her friend alerted her that I was sitting right behind her, so she quit talking about me but refused to acknowledge my presence. I think she was more embarrassed than I was. This was quite a unique experience for me. I've never had that happen before. But at least now I know how she really feels? Regardless of this weird occurrence, Steak and I still had an amazing time with the couple from Tennessee and I can't wait to see them again this weekend!
Right after our dinner at Spike's place I met up with an old friend who I haven't seen in a year! My best friend is officially back for nursing school and I couldn't be happier.
Another vintage pic circa 2006.
In addition to this weekend's awesome meet-ups, I was fortunate enough to meet Miss Annie from All Natural Annie on the metro this morning! We were standing right next to each other on the train and I didn't even realize it at first. I hope to meet her again soon!
