Weekend Wrap-up

These photos look like Awkward Family Photos, don't they?

The photo of Steak was taken in the lobby of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We drove to Westlake, OH on Saturday and spent the night. We got up bright and early on Sunday morning, grabbed some breakfast and then went to visit my grandparents resting place before heading into the heart of Cleveland to visit the museum. We made it home to Virgina late last night after a traffic gridlock in Pennsylvania.

Steak took the photo of me this morning in our apartment building's lobby. He wanted to document my new coat and skirt I got for my birthday from my mom. Thanks Mom! As you can see I'm already putting the new clothes to good use.

Turkey Trotting

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Mine is already off to a great start. Steak and I finished our 13 hour drive last night at approximately 1 a.m. Central time (2 a.m. Eastern). This morning we woke up bright and early to run in a 5k Turkey Trot with both of our families. Unfortunately, Sister CJ decided not to join us.

 Mom, Dad and Me.
Steak's parents, his little brother J, and me.
The entire Steak family: brother J, Steak, Mom, brother C, Dad.

Road Trip

Vintage Photo: May 2009

Steak and I are off to Illinois. We're taking a little road trip to see our parents, run a 5k, eat lots of turkey, and visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Hope everyone has safe travels!

Tech Tuesday: Opera 11

So Opera just released the latest beta for their new browser today. I made sure to download it right away.

My first impressions: Sleek, Fast, Compact, and Cool.

I recently started using Chrome since it had such a lightweight feel to it over Firefox, but Opera feels just as light. Opera also has some new neat features such as mouse gestures (hold your right mouse button down and drag in a direction) and tab stacking (explained below).

The full list of features for Opera 11 are on their website. Everything works very well for a beta browser so far so I'd definitely recommend downloading it and trying it out!

There are a couple things that I'd like to see them implement. Like the ability to use Ctrl+Click to open a tab in the background as opposed to Ctrl+Shift+Click. Also, the new tab stacking is awesome! But... I'd like to have some settings to auto-stack tabs. Like with Ctrl+Shift+Click for example. It would also be a killer feature if you could have Opera auto-group tabs that were from the same domain or opened from links. Like, you open your browser and go to Google Reader, Reddit, and your Gmail. All the tabs opened from each of those websites would be grouped together. Just wishful thinking. I'm sure someone can do this with the new extension support it has like Firefox and Chrome.

I'm excited to see what the full release has in store!

As I write this post I'm singing along to Disney songs and drinking out of my new favorite Starbucks cup with a candy cane straw and I think, "how could life get any better than this?" But it's not the music or the cup that is making me so happy. No, it's all the LOVE in my life.

As I reflect on my many blessings nothing compares to the people in my life and that's because they provide me with so much love. So this Thanksgiving I'm most thankful for my family, for Steak and for all of my wonderful friends.

I love you all truly madly deeply.

What are you thankful this Thanksgiving?

Saturday Night: Friendsgiving and a Housewarming

Steak and I had a wonderful Saturday night this past weekend. Steak had been working all day for a fast approaching deadline. I stayed home and jogged to Giant, cleaned the house and made two deep-dish pumpkin pies. At 6 Steak and I headed to Mt. Vernon Square, pies, wine, and flowers in hand to attend our first ever Friendsgiving.

Two of my college friends (who I actually lived next door to freshman year) invited us to meet all of their friends and enjoy a delicious feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, mac & cheese, salad, rolls, cranberries, stuffing, wine and, of course, my delicious pumpkin pies. Everyone brought something different and we feasted and cheers to new friends. It was a wonderful celebration.

After our Friendsgiving, despite being ridiculously stuffed, we ventured back to Arlington to congratulate my friend, K, on the purchase of her new condo. It was wonderful to see her new place, chat with some of our skeeball teammates and catch-up with my sorority sisters.

The new home owner and our fabulous hosttess is the blonde to the right of me.

By the way, on the way to K's condo, we ran into this...

Hope everyone has a magical weekend!
