Ever since I read Clarendon Nights review I've been wanting to try Eventide. Last Tuesday Living Social had a deal: $10 for $20 to spend at Eventide on a Friday or Saturday night. I immediately purchased the deal and then booked a reservation for Saturday night. Steak and I were not disappointed!
Firstly, let me say that I was very impressed by the bread. Usually the bread basket is just a means to an end for me, but not at Eventide. The bread was flaky, buttery and salty. The perfect way to start a meal.
Steak and I split the oysters as an appetizer. These little half shells were the best part of my entire meal. The real star of the appetizer was the champagne-shallot vinaigrette that we spooned over each oyster.
For my main course I ordered the Porcini-Crusted Tuna Loin. The tuna was perfectly tender and just the right amount of pink. The tuna confit that it was paired with was wonderful, the olives gave it just the right amount of salt.
Steak had the Broken Arrow Ranch Axis Venison. I tried a bite and it was tender and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The Brussels sprouts really made me sing. I stole several off of his plate.
For dessert I ordered the Cashew Butter and Jelly "Sundae" while Steak had the pumpkin cheesecake. I don't know how his was (he scraped his plate, so I assume it was divine), but mine was tremendous! Every ingredient was so tasty, especially the cashew butter, but when eaten all together it was a real treat and something completely unexpected.
Steak paired his meal with a glass of Merlot, while I went with a Syrah. Both were delicious, but what do you expect from a wine bar?
All in all it was a wonderful dinner and a wonderful night. The wait staff made the meal even better and even took this bea-u-tiful picture of the two of us. Can't beat that service.
