Battlefield 3 is a much anticipated game to be released before this holiday season developed by DICE (Digital Illusions CE). It's a fantastic franchise that I've been a fan of since the first game they released, Battlefield 1942, which hit shelves back in 1992. Battlefield Vietnam (2004) followed and was topped by Battlefield 2 (2005). There have been several other spin offs since then, but I've been eagerly awaiting the release of Battlefield 3.
You can only imaging my excitement as I watched very bit of video released by the studio leading up to the E3 Gaming Expo. I'm all ready to upgrade my desktop computer just to play this game!
You can also only imagine my disappointment with the way EA, Electronic Arts (the publisher) decided to cut up the game into several packages to give certain pre-orders an advantage when they hit the front lines on release day. Luckily, it appears to have just been some marketing lingo that got them in trouble. The add called the exclusive weapons "an essential item" while, EA is now saying this is not true and that they would not limit access to something that was actually essential. Frankly, I don't know what to believe, but I'm not going to let a little thing like this get in my way. I can't wait to jump in and kick some butt!
